Koi's Lab

Koi’s Lab is inspired by the Koi Theory, the belief that a koi fish’s growth depends on the size of its environment. A koi raised in a small bowl remains small, but one released into a pond can grow over 20 centimetres. Likewise, I believe our growth is defined by the space we allow ourselves to explore.

Koi’s Lab is my journey to seek that wider pond, a space where science, education, and creativity flow together. Through this platform, I share visual essays, resources, and reflections that turn complex biological ideas, from epigenetics to ecology, into engaging, accessible stories. By merging research with design, I hope to inspire others to expand their own “ponds,” to question, imagine, and grow through curiosity.

Hi there!

I’m the creator of this website.

A little bit about me — I’m from Korea and moved to Australia to study the IB Diploma Programme. As an IB senior (November 2025), I’m currently taking Biology HL and have written my Extended Essay on coral bleaching. I hope to continue my journey by either researching ecology and genetics in the UK or by becoming a secondary school teacher here in Australia.

For the past 2–3 years, I’ve taught many students in biology and maths, often creating my own practice questions and textbooks. I’ve also been working as a content producer for NEWNEEK, a Korean newsletter platform, where I write science-related articles and educational stories. Recently, I’ve even received offers to collaborate with Korean companies, which has been super exciting!

I know I’m still learning and growing, but as someone who truly loves biology and education, I hope my posts can spark curiosity and help others see how amazing science can be. 🌿✨
